Home of the Groove
Based on the premise that the true Home of the Groove, at least on the North American landmass, is the irreplaceable musical and cultural nexus, New Orleans, Louisiana and environs, this audioblog features rare, hard to find, often forgotten, vintage New Orleans-related R&B and funk records with commentary. Some general knowledge of N.O. music is helpful here, but not required to get your groove on.

I currently host a weekly show, "Funkify Your Life", on KRVS 88.7 FM in Lafayette which includes music covered on HOTG and more. You can listen-in live Thursdays at 1:00 PM or to the rebroadcast Fridays at 9:00 PM, or stream shows on demand and see playlists at the station website under the Programs tab. I am a former resident of Memphis, TN, where I did a weekly radio show called "New Orleans: Under the Influence" from 1988 to 2004 on WEVL 89.9 FM. I've been collecting and researching this kind of music (& others) even longer.

Many thanks for all your postings of the groove in 2010, especially cheering for those of us stuck in the cold, frozen northlands of the U.S..
I wish you a nice and cool happy new year and lot's of good music ! I hope to come to Nawlins for Jazzfest this year hope to meet you there
That's again a great season Dan ! The last game against the Falcons was really thrilling ! I'm waiting fo tomorow for the last game of the regular season a good chance to get the division first seat if the Falcons failed
Appreciate it, y'all. Hope those northlands thaw out soon. Not to rub it in, but, though it was a rainy New Year's Eve, I was wearin' short-sleeves - outside!
Jipes, hope you do make it to Jazzfest this year. Let me know. I'm impressed that you're following the Saints over in France. I bet you get some strange looks doin' the Who Dat chant! Beatin' the Falcons was sweet. Here's hopin' they go down and we go up tomorrow!
